On Thursday 3 October, Eleven Sports Portugal were awarded ‘Best Sports Channel’ at the Meios & Publicidade awards – a ceremony which recognises the best projects and companies for Communications, Advertising and Marketing.
This award follows similar accolades in Poland, Italy and Belgium, and is given just as Eleven Sports has completed its first fully operational year in Portugal. The year has been a huge success for Eleven Sports in which it has seen the introduction of an innovative and new way of sports broadcasting in the territory where more than 1000 live events, and 4,500 live hours of content have been broadcast across the six channels.
After launching its OTT streaming platform, Eleven Sports gained linear distribution in February and subscriptions took off, quickly surpassing the 100,000 mark. The broad range of premium rights such as UEFA Champions League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Formula 1 and the NFL have contributed to the success of Eleven Sports in the market. A host of Portuguese footballing stars feature across the competitions offered and Eleven Sports creatively develops original programming, innovative studio shows and influencer campaigns to highlight this.
